Like most women embarking on what is discretely called “fertility preservation”, Rachel had no idea what was involved. Should she freeze eggs or embryos? If she chose embryos, where would she get the sperm? What if she met someone who didn’t want to bring up another man’s biological child? Or if a friend who donated sperm then decided he had a claim on the child?
